The Rock Creek Christmas Faire

Wow is COLD here!!!

We have had -20 degree Celsius nights (-4 f) and yesterday it only “warmed” up to a balmy -17!

At 8 am we put the cats in the bedroom and loaded the back of the pick up with 10 fruit flats of jars, 10 gift baskets, a case of pickles, 10 mug/jars of beer jelly, we packed up the sample case, extra bags, our new silver table cloths our shelves our 2 wheeled dolly and we headed to the Rock Creek Fair grounds. When we got there, there were 54 other vendors and ourselves, all trying to get our goods into the building at the same time!

And, by the time we were all set up, it was as cold inside as it was outside!  Finally, around 11:30 it warmed up a little inside.

The 4 BIG gift baskets, they contained 6 jars of Beary Good Stuff, a small package of Ritz Crackers, Mango and Almond crisps, chocolate and some Christmas Spreaders. They were all sold before the day was done.

This year we made pickle baskets! They includes some HOT Zucchini spears, Sweet Pickled Heirloom Carrots, Pickled Garlic Scapes and our Dills.

We still have 2 of our small baskets left – Strawberry Coconut and Vanilla Jam, Ba-Da-Bing Cherry and Red Wine Jelly and Peanut Brittle, with Mango Almond Crisps and Chocolate!

We had a great time, a lot of our customers from Grand Forks and Osoyoos came and we got to visit with all our other vendor friends.

Is not Christmas Grand?

About badkowalik

Prepared by hand and cooked in small batches – our preserves are cooked slowly. There is an average of 1.5 pounds of fruit in every 8 oz jar. Not only can you taste the difference – you can see the difference. Beautiful natural color and unmatched textures – that can only be achieved by the patience and experience of the Confiseur (the maker). There is alchemy to what we do. Like fine wines, each season has it’s own specific style. We create preserves with exceptional taste. Capturing these flavors is the craft of our business. Beary Good Stuff is a collection of seasonal, sustainable, artisinally made preserves. The collection is made (in limited quantities) from local fruits using traditional cooking methods. We use the freshest ingredients we can get. The small batch production insures a taste and texture that is unmatched in the commercial market today. The collection includes preserved fruits & vegetables – marmalades, jams, fruit butters & salsas, pickles and gift collections that reflect the bounty of the season and spirit of feasting. Although not necessary yet, we have received a letter from the BC Heath Authority. We submitted a package detailing how and where we made our products, what each recipe contains and how we prepare it. This letter is displayed in our tent at the Farm Market. We have our BC MarketSafe and FoodSafe certifications.
